I don't believe that this is really a song about Christ. I'm pretty sure that it's about a relationship that he had previously been in where he really loved the other person, but that person wasn't fair or didn't treat him correctly and left him. After a long time apart, the other person comes back to him, and this song is kind of his struggle to stay away from the person. He doesn't want to go through that pain again.
