my interpretation is that the person whom they wrote of (23 year old) went through a really rough breakup with this girl who used to be his best-friend and then i guess they got together and he misses her like no one could ever imagine and even if she hates him or doesn't talk to him anymore, at this point he stills loves her more and more each day.
