This song is about The Rev and how his death has impacted on the band. Alot of the lyrics deal with the immense pain that has been brought across the band due to Jimmy's passing, leaving Shadows with a certian disdain for the world ("Save me, I'm trapped in a vile world, where endings are the same as every other, we're only here to die). He is lost in this world with memories of the Rev where eventually everything ends, and he is pleading to be set free of it.

It also seems as if Shadows is questioning God as to why he has taken his brother away. The line "Is it something we did? Is it something we did to them?" suggests that he is asking God if The Rev's passing was a punishment for the music that Avenged Sevenfold created and exposed to their fans ("them" being the fans).

I believe that the final, repeated line, "Tonight we all die young", is a testament to the bond that exists between the band and Jimmy. The band would rather take their lives away so they could once again be with their fallen brother.

I wouldn't go as far as to say they'd rather take their own lives, but rather that when he died, a part of them did as well; they all died together the moment he did.

Also, although it's not really related to the lyrics or anything, the final drum patterns during the 'Tonight we all die young' section really felt like Portnoy adding his own personal touch to the album, and it's really a musical high point. He did a fantastic job of replicating Jimmy's style but he also let some of his own amazing talent seep in and it...

"Save me I can use some guiding light, some place to go, If you hear me let me know."

Yeah thats probably directed at God, good call

I always thought of Shadows calling out to The Rev for the guiding light and wanting The Rev to hear him.
