I'm not completely sure but this song could be about being influenced by others too much.
"If it came down to life or death would you even make a choice" This line shows certainity in making a decision. If you depend on others too much, you feel uncertain when you need to decide on something by yourself. But in any choice you could be as confident as in a hypothetical life/death decision. That's why you "Just keep telling yourself..." and don't listen to somebody who pretends to be wiser than you are (they are not your master). Especially, if others say that this day is NOT worth living, your fight is NOT worth fighting, your hope is NOT worth hoping. Self-confidence and creed will keep you on the right track.
