I think the line "I felt the Lord begin, to peel off all my skin" might be kind of a reference to a segment in the CS Lewis book The Voyage of the Dawn treader... one of the characters is turned into a dragon and Aslan (God/the lord) comes and begins top peel off layers of his scales until he is a boy again... I just always thought the lyrics might be inspired by that...
