I'm pretty sure the title is based upon the Isaac Newton quote "If I have seen further, it is only from standing on the shoulders of giants", i.e 'tallest man' and 'broadest shoulders'.

Actually, Chicago is known as the city of big/broad shoulders. And Abe Lincoln is well known for being pretty tall- he was from Illinois. Hence, Tallest man, Broadest Shoulders.
