i think its that they wanted to be with someone, but they ended it (because of how the other lives their life?), and now they are regretting it.
and now, as time is moving on they just want somebody to love. but looking back at the past, even though that might have been a long time ago it seems like it was just yesterday. and the person is running out of time to get the other one back. i think the colors are like the white is like being empty, and the red is vibrant, and the person just wants it back.
i think the person realizes no matter if someone lives a different way or isn't what you pictured you would like, you love them, and you can't change it.
