I believe this song is explaining his infatuation with someone he believes is out of his league because he feels inferior to them (Wanna be one of the beautiful people)(Wanna feel like I'm missed)(I know my clothes are not right), sees them as untouchable (One of the beautiful people), he questions whether the person is really so untouchable (Are you one of the beautiful people?) he questions and doubts if they realise he exists and could ever notice him (Am I on the wrong track?) and (But I don't know if you know what I mean 'cause I'm Never on your list) he is fragile because of his infatuation and its driving him crazy (Sometimes it feels like I'm made of egg shell, It feels like I'm gonna crack)

He explains that he is struggling to believe that even "beautiful people" cant possibly be void of feeling (Everyone needs to find someone who cares)and he explains that even though he has doubts anything could eventuate, he holds hope that the person is not void of feeling and will notice he cares and that this would be enough to validate him, for the person to overlook what he believes makes him inferior (Everyone needs to be somebody).
