my username is based on this song, as is a tattoo on my left arm (winking smiley face). I think the lyrics are pretty straight forward. It is about that guy we all know. The guy that goes out to the clubs, looking flashy, but actually doesn't have a dime to his name. No girls are safe from his sleeziness. Not the young ones, not the 4am beauty queens, not even the tv's.
Now, given that I have just described the guy as sleezy, you are probably wondering why I have a tattoo of winking smiley face with the words Mr Lucky around it. Well, 2 reasons: First, I like the character in the song. I always saw him as being sort of a harmless guy just trying to have fun. He has to "pimp his intellect" in order to get away with it. In other words, he knows what he is doing is classless, but he is going to put that knowledge on the shelf for a night. Or maybe I'm just glorifying the character.
The other reason is this: you know when you're kid and you get new bike, or beat your friend at video game or something, your friends would say "you are sooo lucky!"? Well, as long as I can remember, and long before I heard this song, I would always respond with "I'm Mr. Lucky!" Eventually, anytime something good happened to me, my friends started saying "you are Mr Lucky!"
The bottom line is that this song puts me in a good mood.
PS--Mr Lucky was also the nickname I gave to my little soldier. Come on guys! Fess up! We all have one!
