This is one of those songs that are open to multiple meanings. However, I believe the strongest message is how drugs affect his musical career. Cudi also targets how he relies on them, without being reliant or addicted. he just feels he is making a difference in the music industry, and marijuana helps him make that difference. This is absolutely true, as any Kid Cudi fan would know. Here are some examples:

"These voices they tell me go, but why should I ever go? Man I'm so comfortable here. Why should I head to a place where people live in fear?" - This shows that he feels more comfortable in his "high state". It shows that when he smokes he feels he is in a better place to make his music, and he's fearful of that when not under the influence. The place he is speaking of is not a literal area, but more the feeling he receives from the drugs.

"The earth is a puzzle that I'll never fit" - Clearly, he feels isolated, either uniquely or not, from the world. He feels different, and later he asks, "Why should I leave my sanctuary?" sanctuary meaning state of mind.

"How do I know that their kind will truly hear me out? Will they understand I'm flying from a different route?" - Cudi second guesses himself and wonders if everyone else will be able to connect with his music the way he can, simply because not everyone smokes weed like him. When he refers to "their kind", he refers to sober people.

"Sacrifice is a friend, and struggle is the enemy. But weed is the remedy." - Simply, Kid Cudi takes pride in the sacrifices he made to get where he is. The second part of this line explains how struggle should not be necessary in music, and when he's sober, there is some. "Weed is the remedy" Means that when he smokes marijuana, no struggle is present for him, and he can make his music with a free, creative mind, showing that soberness shackles him.

"Remember you're not strange, but you are not the same man." - Weed's high makes people different not physically, but mentally. Physically, he's the same, but mentally, he's not.

That's the most in depth I can get right now. I hope this helped.

nicclow is right. kid cudi has also talked about how he feels like he is out of this world. and that he is here to protect. i've been sober of marijuana for 4 weeks now and i feel the exact same as kid cudi. you have a sense like oyu are not a human being like you are something much greater. and you feel the urge to help people not turn to drugs. kid says in songs how he cant stop and wont stop because his mind is addicted. and that in order for some to do something special they...
