This song is a cover, the original was by The Human League.

I think that 'being boiled' refers to the way silk cocoons are boiled with the silk worms still inside them (sericulture = silk production).

The part about Buddhism also refers to the way that some Buddhists refuse to wear silk products as the silk worms are killed in the process of making it.

I suspect the parallel drawn between the silk worms and children is something to do with reincarnation, but I don't currently have time to read enough into Buddhism to fully understand it.
