To me the song is from the perspective of a gay person who (1) isn't fully out (& "All of these thoughts that I conceal") & (2) is lonely & going wild from anticipation of who may be out there for him- that they may be real ("Don’t think a plane could get much higher Higher than I do Just on imagination, just on hope Just on the thought that you will someday have a face").
