I "rediscovered" Lay It Down again after years of letting it collect dust on a shelf. And it's even more stunning now that I'm a bit older.

This song in particular gets me. It's amazing how the same set of lyrics can be inserted into two entirely different musical interpretations and create two entirely different "sides" of a story.

The lyrics tend to be self-explanatory, though I want to point out one minor error in the above lyrics that makes a world of difference. In the final verse it should be:

"So you're drinking for the pleasure of falling and you're falling for the pleasure of pretending CAUSE I'm sitting by the window waiting for you to come calling"

Now this adds a lot of weight to the entire story. The two main characters are simultaneously reminiscing and pretending that the other is waiting for them. When the word "that" is exchanged with "cause" it shows that both characters are, in fact, waiting for the other to call. Oh, the irony.

No alcohol or fantasy needed here. GD, somebody get them a phone!
