I think it's more than just TV, I think it's about how the whole world's idea's of entertainment to keep themselves occupied throughout life.
Slip into something more comfortable...proceed into space
Possibly sex
Innocent individuals
Concerned about nothing but happiness
Progress becomes easy due to this social situation
Unfortunate turn of events
Collapse this idea of childish thought
This is pretty much the prelude to what I was saying, we're concerned about nothing but happiness and entertainment
No judgement towards one another, no social status to compare
All as one hmm...that kind of contradicts to the whole song but anyway
Exploit the idea of innocence
Goddamn television god
Corrupt me
Seperate us
Groups of difference seem to comfort what we once didn't think of
This show was in their head for years
Enjoy this life of wonder and imagination
For it will be torn down
This is the part about reality TV and how it tortures celebrities
You will be torn down
Time to hate, kill, fuck, conquer
This is human life at its best
We'll televise this event
You can learn how to live, breathe
Then finally die
4 forms of entertainment: Hate (revenge, exploitation), Kill (murderers and the publicity they make), fuck (sex, pretty obvious) and conquer (Pointless wars for dominance). These are the 4 things that make human life it's best, and people televise everything (another jab at TV). This is how we teach people to live.
The sweet relief is a must
(We can speak of obsession
We can love the endless)------They never actually say that part, but it helps get the point across.
*Basically, this line says we can learn to like this life that we will live forever (We can love the endless) and become addicted to it (The sweet relief is a must, we can speak of obsession).
This song definetly has a lot to do with TV, but I think it has so much more to it as well. This song is no doubt the best off the Alaska album, the opening and closing are just remarkable, while the middle is great and edgy.
