love this song. Totally blown away by the despair between the lines. I've once read some poems written about(i didn't remember clearly though) some women they even have to save their sorrowfulness. Here Polly sang 'Time takes many things away' I would like to interpret it as she described her ecstasy towards a boy,but she got nothing back, she felt devastated. Nevertheless, such feelings support her to go on living, because the sorrowfulness('I will always be that girl that you never quite kissed') somehow reminded her of the memory of him. But time is harsh, it weakens our memories. So she went desperate because she could no longer grasp these cherished memories. Lyrics like 'I've ribbons on my fingers and cuts on my wrist.'are absolutely dark and penetrating.
