I think I got it. O.K it begins with him just alone and living his life. Then opportunity, or she, got into his life. It wasn't serious though. The passion quickly faded(at least for one of them) and he cheats on her and claims to have learned from his mistake, which the most vicious crime after all. He knew he had to change but it was too late and he was, again, alone. Dang! now I noticed she could of been the cheater and he still went back to her. But that "fixed" relationship didn't last and he was, once again, alone. The chorus is showing his anger/disappointment of the whole thing. He tried to stay perfect but that wasn't enough for her. Steal your cries...run it aground part might be switching perspectives showing the mutual want of vengeance. I could go on so much longer just throwing every new idea I get from this on this website.
