This song is about a bet that Julia made with one of her friends that if he stopped smoking for a week, she would drink only lemonade for a week and the loser had to write a song about the winner.

I bet you thought that I forgot about our deal, But I am a man of my words, though they be strange and absurd (Julia has said this song took her an year to write. She's saying, you've probably forgotten about the bet, but I'm a man of my words and I'm going through with it.)

I'm just trying to keep it real. And I know I lost the bet, but I haven't lost you yet And if drinking lemonade for the rest of our days would save you, You know I would do it. (The bet was about getting her friend to stop smoking for a week, so she had to drink lemonade for a week. She's saying that she would drink lemonade for the rest of her life if it would get her friend to stop smoking and save his life)
