Obviously it's a political commentary.
I think it goes deeper than that though. It's so much more personal than just simple facts and generic anger against our "corrupt government." It speaks of the struggles of a country's citizens, caught up in the destruction of a battle that they didn't choose for themselves. This song isn't a protest, but a plea for our leaders to see that we, the people, make sacrifices that may not be worth it in the end- that maybe we should take a step back and help ourselves before we go tell others how to run their governments.
