i think this song is about dying from cancer, but more specifically lung cancer.
when he says "stone me like a martyr" it implies dying for something one believes in. maybe jesse is trying to imply that the person dying was a smoker and that he is now dying from how he chose to live his life. also, "envious, a simple touch" means to me that the person dying is envious of those who are healthy and perhaps regrets his addiction of smoking. "all of this longing" means that he is longing to be healthy.
