I take this song pretty literally, although it's metaphoric. It's simply about when you get to that point in a relationship you know it's time to call it quits.
The first verse I think refer to the fighting happening in the relationship. He's trying to see things her way and work it out but it's just impossible because she's so unreasonable. The fourth line I always imagined referred to vile words he's throwing back at her, saying she's brought him down to her level, but I'm not sure. Especially since the 5th line seems to be a 'cat got your tongue' type lyric, but instead she's bitten it off and swallowed it, leaving him lost for words. Though that sounds contradictory, doesn't it? So perhaps instead he's saying that he has all these mean things built up that he wants to say to her, but instead he thinks it's more prudent to keep it to himself and just move on, that it'll be better for him as a person.
At the chorus he's saying his goodbyes (it's "see you in good time", by the way). He has this "so be it" attitude - he's not that remorseful because he figures he'll find someone else to love. "I'll love again." He's not going to dwell on her.
Second verse is even easier. He's basically saying that this relationship is doomed to fail. The fuse is lit and it can't be stopped - everything is going to explode. The relationship is going downhill, so he's getting out of there before the shit really hits the fan. He's telling her she should do the same.
I love this song and just thinking about it has me so excited for this Friday's gig. No matter how many times I see these guys it's never enough.
it seems pretty straight forward to me..
About a relationship gone bad..

first verse:
Trying to relate the other other person but realising that its not gonna work,
Having a lot of hateful things you want to say but knowing that it not going to help.

second verse:
Realising its only a matter of time till things blow up and the relationship ends.

chorus:
I dont think its actually "sing away good time" (makes no sense) but "see you in good time"
so basically saying goodbye and that you dont want to see them at all anymore/for a while....
