Rose Of England Lyrics

I really love this song... It is based on historical fact, but so beautifully written that you can feel the sorrow of the Queen by the end, and the magnitude of the sacrifice she has made... the lyrics are quite self-explanatory really - the restrictions imposed on us by the expectations of others, and whether our first duty is to our country, our people or to our own hearts...

I believe this song is about Queen Elizabeth I of England - mainly due to lines like "This land I wed" (Something that she said in real life) and the fact that she was famously never married, and was called the "Virgin Queen." Elizabeth succeeded her half-sister - Mary I of England - to the throne. If anyone has any information on who this song is about, then please share!
