Pete wrote this wonderful song for his father who died a little while back. "Author of the Testosterone Scriptures, Where did you go?" This one line alone tells you that Pete's Dad must have been a nail-eating hard ass and that Pete is missing him....

Notice how he sings most of the song in a higher than usual range for him? I think this is Pete emulating the boy that he was. The LAST verse however is sang in his normal deep range. Telling us that the boy is now a man. Yet he feels like a little boy hiding amongst those shadows, ashamed of the tears he WISHES he could shed for his father. ("Pray for the rain.") Tears that his father would in fact despise.

This song is absolutely TOO brilliant and shows how much of an anointed songwriter Pete was....
