It seems she's in a relationship with a guy, and they're both not the best match for each other - they don't necessarily treat each other the way either one wants to be treated -- but they're still together. She wants to break up with him, but doesn't want to have to go through with breaking his heart. So she stays with him even though she does not want to, but he starts to get under her skin. I can definitely relate on some levels -- I see it as knowing that you need to let go of love that isn't right for you, but you can't bring yourself to even though it's what you really want.
