I don't really see how everyone can jump to entertaining the idea of a woman's heart so quickly.
I suppose the most simplistic answer is always the easiest to pass though.
To figure a riddle means to look at all the details and formulate something that fits all the allusions. That includes the place where the general idea is set: THE TITLE! :P
If you look at from a humanization on planetary perspective you can easily create your own metaphors. The girl would be a young "Mother" Earth, sun hardly coming through would be pollution, dreams, relevance and perception of time, nostalgic regret, etc.
I do have a possible lyric correction that I've heard both ways:
"When you go down
All the sick and selfless days
I want to see you again"
to
"When you go back
All the second selfless days
You're in love with him
I want to see you again"
