In my eyes it's obvious, that the main sentence is, that he don't want his relationship no more:

He got a dilemma, cause he will miss the girl and knows that it's hard to go. And althoug he did everything for her, but there is something, that forces him to quit.
He doesn't describe that "something", i can't at all, but i think i know what he means.
