You can see the difference between some of the pics... The way he uses the word 'sinner' so many times, the way he uses it to refer to himself... And something always seemed wrong between him and Hayley for a while... Like something happened. It's not very visible, but I've observed them a lot and seen flashes of it many times... Feels like something happened. He did something or something happened to him... Something went wrong... Like something forces him to be so serious and sort of upset. And I feel like something happened between Hayley and him... and that is what this song is about.

Apparently Misery Business was based on a girl Hayley hated and one of her close friends was dating that girl, so that close friend could have been josh, who dated this girl before he dated Hayley. So maybe Josh's song talks about that girl?
