Blackbirds Lyrics

Lyric discussion by pastachickennugget42

It seems to me to be about the band's view on all the negative criticism they got from Minutes to Midnight. A Line that proves this: "It's harder starting over than never having changed."

With Blackbirds (angry fans) following me... I'm getting back what I gave (We're going to go back to our old style) Let the dead man sing (Let's have Mike be not-so absent on the next album)

Seriously, that's what I think it's about (remember just my opinion)

I think differently. Maybe they're going back to their old style, but I think the line "I'm getting back what I gave" could be taken differently. I saw it in a different light. It's like Chester and the band gave us all their heart in Minutes to Midnight, and we threw it right back at them and said, "Trash."

I think "let the dead man sing" might be the line that says, "Fine, we'll bring that back."

"The pain it comes in waves." It really hurt them that we trashed it....

I see where you're coming from, but one of the guys said in an interview said that their next album would be half MTM/half Meteora/Hybrid Theory. Most of the MTM half would have a bit of rock in it too though, (In Pieces for example)

I'm with you though, I didn't mind their Minutes to Midnight stuff at all except for some of the singles getting old. Hands Held High-TLTGYA are some of LP's best work, though I do still like their earlier stuff more.

I agree with pastachickennugget42 It's talking about all the negative remarks the band got with MTM, but in reality MTM was a GREAT album!
