The song is amazing. The lyrics are amazing.

I guess what it's trying to say is that, growing up or in life, it always feels like you're alone. People always want someone to give them a miracle cure to get past things; they feel as though the world is closing in on them.

In the chorus, he's saying that, yeah, he's been there. He's "played the fool too many times," he's been this way a lot in the past, he's still trying to make up for the time he's lost dwelling on things that don't really matter, and although it seems like the end of the world, tomorrow always comes and none of it mattered.

In the verse about "high hopes of silver and gold" he's saying that he always wished he's be taken away, like a poor person wishing for wealth, from his problems, that things would change and he'd be rid of all of it, but that doesn't happen--you just realize it's not worth the trouble you put into it.

Finally, in the verse about being "in a field of land mines and cruise ships hell, oh, but i don't think about that" he's really saying, "yeah, i'm still in a bad place right now, but i ignore it, and it helps." Also, the next lines show that people think he's found a secret of life, and count on him for advice, but although he seems better off, he's just as bad off as they are.

It's a great song. Essentially, it's saying "Yeah, life sucks. It always will, so get used to it, ignore it, and try to make the best of it." A truly important lesson.

And the title/lines "No One Understands" seems more like he's taunting the people who think they're unique or the only people suffering. He's going for irony. I love it. Bayside is amazing.
