Such an underrated Edwin McCain song. In my opinion this should stand up there with "I'll Be" & "I Could Not Ask For More".
It's basically Just Edwin's commentary on the world of today and the seeming lack of love in it.
We are hiding our love (for anyone or anything) because we think it's inadequate by itself.
Instead we get caught up in trying to express our love through material things, but as he says in the song "just remember that they're only things."
He argues that THE most important thing in our lives should be the love we feel for others, and the love we get from others. If more people realized this, the world would be a better place.
Anyways, like I said that's just my opinion. But hopefully that'll get a discussion started on this song, because it's one of my favorites and I don't think it gets the recognition it deserves.
