Well jake leg was something people got in prohibition. They sold this jamaica ginger stuff called Jake as a tonic, but mainly it was just alcohol disguised as tonic. The FDA made them have so much ginger solids in order to reduce the amount of alcohol in it. Basically, they tried to dupe the FDA and put in plasticizers in order to retain the alcohol, but give the illusion of a high amount of solids. The plasticizers made people lose motor function, so they walked toe-heel instead of heel-toe. That's all I know!
