I think this song has something of a political meaning, commenting on the nature of those in power. It makes sense that the song is about revolution and how, while starting off idealistically, corruption sets in while in power, leading to the point where another revolution begins, shown in the line:
"Repeating cycle
Of light/No Light."
The corruption becomes cyclical. Also those in power slowly become more hardened and brutal, making the world suffer as a result:
"I am ice
I am clear
Let the world be cold."
The line "Let the rich meet death" may be an allusion to revolutions in which the poor rise up to kill the wealthy.
The line:
"You put your hands on me
And I learn the words
I didn't know before."
May refer to prisoners suffering at the hands of those in power, being innocent of any crime but interrogaters "lay hands" on them, beating them into confessions of non-existent crimes (like under the Soviet regime in Russia)
