He plays with allegory in this song. He says "this is a song for a dove... blown up bird... a star... a space invader" the instrumental parts flirt obviously with influences from Led Zeppelin, and adds to a feeling of musical revival in the smashing pumpkins music. The lingering and haunting synthesisers speak of longing on Corgan's part, linking to the aforementioned meaning of being an adult in a society, aging and not having children, whilst harbouring some angst with his relationship with his father. Before in his music he adopted a feeling of hiding lyrical meaning from the content of the song, as was the style of some songwriters of the alternative music scene, from Nirvana to Pearl Jam. This is however a move away, in my view, of past angst, and is a perfect opening into his new and more honest album.
