i think this song is about how a guy finds out about the girl cheating
and that hes breaking up with her and she doesnt want them to end.
hence "I've played this out in my mind so many times, It's too far gone, it's all over"
and that the guy tried so hard to keep it together
"So many times I've held it together, So many times I've tried for you"
and now its all over for her and shes lost everything.
