I really don't know why they're getting as much crap for their new style as they are... They've always had new styles for every release. I think this is just an expansion, not anything better or worse.
As for this meaning... I think it's about feeling lost. The dust storm could be because you honestly wouldn't be able to see anything. I like imagery it creates because dust storms aren't the typical way to show being lost.
