in a round-a-bout way, this feels kinda like what im going through right now.
"i can see youre upset. i wish i coud forget you" the girl is majorly upset about something, and hes tired of it, and wishes he wasnt so close.

'chorus' hes wondering where his angel is, bc the girl isnt the 'angel' he first knew
'you trade love for a little romance' love can get stale, but romance is more passionate.
'too late this is the last dance girl' shes too late to change, this is the end.
'you say you want it, you loved me then fought it' she told him she loves him, but fights being in love with him for whatever reason.
'youre breaking my heart and taking me down' he doesnt want this to happen, bc he loves her, but he cant stand being around her when shes constantly upset/down/depressed/etc.
'break it down and live it up' break down her problems and live how he thinks she should, not bound by whats making her upset.
