Cover art for Crickets lyrics by Wild Sweet Orange

I absolutely love this song. The lyrics are so powerful in the sense that they potray a situation relatable to anyone who has experienced a failed relationship. I interpreted this song to be about two people who have ended their relationship because the man loved a woman who didn't love him back.

I was in the back seat going crazy Like I've never seen the twilight glow before Neurotic and praying for a green light Between no man's land and the boarder of Mexico

He's going on a trip with his friends, to a wedding, that he isn't looking forward to because it will bring up feelings of his past lover. This poses the setting of where his realization began. The realization shall come up again later, so that you know what I mean by that.

I can hear those crickets I know they're telling us something Something we're not too old yet to ignore

This is foreshadowing what he is going to learn; the crickets possibly represent something of a conscious in the man, it's a background noise helping him understand what has been happening.

She don't believe anything She don't believe anything But, I would believe anything I would believe anything

He finally comes to the realization that she was never the right girl for him and she never actually loved him, giving him the confidence to be able to move forward and actually get over her?

And why won't you listen to me She said, "listen to me As sure as my heart breaks My love for you will never change"

She would be sure that her heart isn't breaking and her love for him just changed; she doesn't love him anymore.

Yeah the wedding party took me in And like a match in the dark

I believe this stanza means that at a wedding party he discovered what was really happening in the relationship.

As I set my glass down And danced my blues away

Here I think that he has come full sircle and realized there isnt a reason to be upset about something that he can change,so he "dances his blues away."

Oh, when the sun goes down I will always see your face As sure as my heart breaks My love for you will never change

He's still in love with her but thats okay, someday that will change. He is only in a tmporary state.

-This is just what I interpreted the song to mean; I think that it can be different for everyone, and thats one of the many wonderful aspects about music, especially by Wild Sweet Orange. This is definitely one of my all time favorite songs :) His voice gives me goosebumps int hte first chorus.
