I disagree, I don't think this one is about God. See, these lines make me think this:

and

I want it the way it was
Forever and always"
I feel like it's a love he lost and he is just, dead inside, because he lost her. And he longs for it to be the way it always was with her. He wants to kiss her and her to kiss him. That is my interpretation, maybe it's just because I connect and feel that interpretation because it fits what I'm going through right now.
