I love Brad Sucks. Out of It is incredible. I mean, it sounds like a 1 man band with no fans - Brad is just a normal guy. He takes a lot of shit in life. And he keeps going, like a lot of us do, even though it drags him down. But I don't think he's looking for, or even considering a rainbow on the horizon. In his world, disappointment, manipulation, and melancholy are the standard.
Certain Death is just an amazing song. He's so down, he's contemplating suicide... but he can't do it. Not because he has some epiphany, or realizes that there's so much for him in life. It's because he's hopelessly waiting for something to pick him up and make him "happy". Though his music projects his present state of mind, it seems as if he'll never be happy. He just can't do it.
