I think that instead of saying "but as it stands, as it stands" it says "and is this as it stands" and instead of saying "life that is gone far" (I'm not hearing that at all) I think it says "life that fears come from" also, I think instead of saying hopeless in the chorus it says opus which means: a creative piece of work in any field of the arts. so it would make sense.
