Seems to me that they're talking about traveling... or if they're not, it sums up pretty well my feelings towards travelling... especially this part:

I pile money for a while..then leave for a couple of weeks and I ask myself that exact question... couldn't have said it better...and in the end, you always think you have to come back too soon anyway: (my plane's arrival catches me off guard / we'll all be leaving with a broken heart)
Anyway, no matter what it's about, it's an awesome song! Local Natives are great!
