Ah I love this song but I don't really think it's directed at not getting angry in particular... The anger was an effect, in the middle of things. Not the cause.
I feel like he's trying to say you can't be naive and live in hope because in the end everything goes bad.

I think that it is kind of saying that victims might be victims in this reality but if the power had of been in the other hands the victims would have been the persecutors and done exactly the same thing
