Well,...I think it's about a drug score wrapped up in a runaway/sex case. In other words, it has double meaning. 'Janie', the pot, survived the 'fires' of the tampa DEA crew, and became the 'wonderwaif' of 'Gram'mercy' Park? Why not Central Park? "Grab some take-out"? Who refers to buying clothes like that? The "sugar shack" in PA? Some Hersheys chocolate cravings? Why not take her to Mass? "..try new things"? 'Melanie' is a new stronger drug.."along for the ride". Everybody knows 'dreary sundays' are 'rescued' by getting high, and being high makes traffic 'interesting'. I love women, but they don't make me feel like 'sailing' and 'painting' again. Drugs are a 'federal case'. SD songs just aren't that str8-forward simple and sleazy. Fagan and Becker are smarter and deeper than that.

My Opinion

@JudeJaded Gramercy Park is a private park in lower Manhattan; to get in, you need to live in the Gramercy neighborhood and pay an annual fee. One of those only-in-New-York things. It makes sense that the wealthy narrator would hang out there, but it's not a likely spot for a drug deal! (Washington Square Park or, as you say, Central Park would be more plausible. Although, in truth, they probably haven't been major drug marketplaces since the 1980s).

Not sure if you're serious with the "take-out" comment, but... Dean & Deluca's is an ultra-high-end grocery store that also sells takeout....
