What if there were no more good songs any more? Is that possible. For me it is, at least in my mind as I sit and think... but then there's songs like this, which has a few years on it already, but still... then you stop and think - I like it in part because of who's playing it and looking back over the years. This is one of the truly original great bands of all time. And here you see that they are masterful in creating the 'song' structure and the meaning, or playing around with meaning. I don't know what it means per se. But I've been a fan long enough to pretty much get it, and when you combine that with the music that's all you need. What it means, to me, is that I see the band itself being extremely comfortable with their view of life and how they live it, and how they view it, mostly through the lens of their music/craft. It's always been a fairly abstract view... and a group of people that values their 'freedom'. And now, they look around and they see a pretty screwed up world... and so they write a song, not about how back the world in screwed up, necessarily, but just, almost like, how they are screwed up too... it's all screw up and so this song is like a meditation, kind of sad, but triumphant, and still a little out there where if you were high you could really have a good time listening, especially with a pair of head phones on !
