I can relate to this song from a different perspective here.

To Clarify, I do believe that it's about a girl who is confused about whom to choose. Even though it seems like such a simple choice, notice she's still saying that he's making her decide.

The song is open to interpretation, whether it's about a girl whose talking about herself, or about a guy she's with or even a guy she's not officially with.

What's more important is the core message of being told "you're not enough, you're flawed" and being told "you're everything I want"

It relates to me because, my Last girlfriend was the sweetest girl in the world. And I used to be very bluntly honest with her. I used to tell her about how she did things wrong. I've called her situationally useless before, never stupid.

She liked me because I was honest with her, and I gave her a standard to work toward. I would tell her she was beautiful. I would tell her that she made me smile because she did. It was the good and the bad.

However, there just came a point where she just started dropping the ball. Again and again. She got lazy, superficial, and shallow. And I just wouldn't follow her into it.

I couldn't find a nice way to tell her that she was losing all the personal qualities that made her beautiful to me. Now she's with this guy who worships the ground she walks on.

A guy who quite literally thinks she's beautiful, incredible and can't stop thinking about her.

When I listened to the song it made me cry. Flat out. While I was driving.

It's a great song because it's open to interpretation. It's versatile but regardless of how it applies to you it means inspiring and positive.

To me, it touched home very hard because to me the song is about a girl who would rather be with some guy who will tell her anything she wants to hear than be with a guy who will tell her what he really feels.

In the end of the song she repeats about how "According to you, I'm useless and stupid" and I think that's the feeling of remembering that there was -something- right about being called useless and stupid (metaphorically, not literally) but it doesn't matter at that point.

Simultaneously, it's also about a girl who manages to find the confidence to choose the nice guy(positive perspective) over the jerk(negative perspective).
