I'd give you everything,
If ONLY I'd have known you'd take it.
But you don;t, 'cause you're you.
That's why I'll always love you.
My pearl of the stars.
I'd give you everything,
If ONLY I'd have known you'd take it.
But you don;t, 'cause you're you.
That's why I'll always love you.
My pearl of the stars.
Damn this is a great song. Yes, there is raw emotion is this one. But you can totally hear the "writer" Claudio speaking here when he refers to "angel from the west" Claud's wife is originally a model from L.A. and he is from the East Coast.

So this is about Pearl Hohenburger, Leonard Hohenburger's wife, who created Coheed, Cambria, and Inferno (Claudio's dad, mom, and uncle respectively)

They lost her son and it broke her heart and her mind. She's also held captive and driven insane in by Wilhelm Ryan in order to coerce Leonard into creating the Monstar virus to destroy humanity. Wishing to God he'd let her rest must reference the suffering of the loss of their son, or the pain she experienced while being help captive, or possibly her suicide.

"Oh, the pills she takes, the pain of which she drowns.
A baby sleeps...
"Oh, the pills she takes, the pain of which she drowns.
A baby sleeps next door, she's new in town.
I'll tell her how wonderful you were.
I'll remember everything you were to me."
After her death, Leonard creates a daughter from their DNA, Josephine, that's the baby that sleeps next door, as she grows. He'll tell her of her mother, Pearl. He never gets that chance, however, he faces Mayo Deftinwolf to get himself killed.
He's pretty devoted to Pearl, and her suffering is tough on him. It's sad because of this grief he experiences watching his wife's sanity degenerate, be held captive because of him, even blame him for her son's death and captivity, and kill herself. She was without a doubt his everything.
Claudio sounds so sad when he sings this song. Ugh this album sounds so amazing and is so good.
Couple of small changes, nothing big.

It's funny you say that, because I think this is my favourite song on the album.

Not really sure why he was down rated.
