I love the suicide lines. They remind of the almighty Kurt Vonnegut remarking (super cynically, as per usual) that, though damn near every prominent American artist protested the Vietnam War, all of their effort amounted to "A creampie thrown down a hallway," (paraphrasing, don't precisely remember). Sad, but true. Keep trying though, damnit!! By the way, not that I have anything against Jack Johnson, but people constantly comparing these two is really pissing me off. Musically speaking, Andrew's stuff is sooooooo much more intricate.

It's a choice to make others miserable right along side us and a choice to harm ourselves and those we claim to love when we act out due to our problems...ie. overspending; overdosing; sexual conquests; cutting; drinking to excess; fighting; etc. I hate that so many people are strong enough to sing/talk about depression/suicide (like it's a badge of honor and a badge of being free), but they're too weak (or reluctant) to attempt to change their situation so they can have 12 good months instead of just a handful of good times. I f-ing hate that they don't value themseleves enough to want MORE and BETTER; rather, they play it off as some sort of independence ritual. F-them and their settling!
