This is my favorite song on Ursa Major, no doubt. I've had trouble trying to figure out what it means, but three parts of the song have had me thinking ever since I first listened to it.
"Some moments are more real than the books i've read"
I think what he may be trying to say is that he wasn't prepared for something that happened, and that he's at a loss for a solution. What he thought he knew dosent help him, and that reality has blindsided him.
The second part that got to me is when he repeats "I'm talking to myself" near the end of the song. Think about those lines as if you are really saying this out loud: "And I mean it, even when i'm talking to myself......I'm talking to myself." I thought about this and to me, maybe he is saying that after all that he has been saying in the song, that no one is listening to him. That after all, he really IS talking to himself. Perhaps he went through lots of work to fix somthing, in vain? I know it sounds like a stretch, but I can't help but think that this is the case.
The last part that got to me is the last lines, "Everything changed in a day, and I know another one's on the way." I read the pregnancy thought, that this may be reffering to a new child. That is a very valid point, and could very well be it's meaning. But when I first heard it, especially after thinking about why he repeated "I'm talking to myself", I began to think that this may be his way of saying "Oh, well, tommorrow's a new day", as if to say that "another one's on the way" refers to tommorrow. Something has changed his life on this day that he didn't expect (some moments are more real than the books i've read), and he's gearing himself up for this new beginning, seeing tommorrow as an opportunity to expound on it.
not a big third eye fan but i believe the "im talking to myself part" means that hes not fooling around with other girls behind his lovers back and when hes alone and by himself hes still saying "its you and only you and no one else." there is no one else but her, hes not thinking about other girls when shes not there
