I think this is a statement about how our society is designed and the myth about "anyone being able to do what they want, if only they make it so". Everything is organized in a pyramidal structure, hierarchical, classes, etc.
We're told everyone can win the lottery (sweepstakes), but in reality, if you want to win, a lot more people have to lose. That's how it's set up. That's the organization of a "civilized" society, compared to a nature-based indigenous society which has been proved to work the best in the sense that it provides every member their birthright of basic needs - not a pyramid scheme!
