Burgundy Shoes Lyrics

The great thing about this song is the economy. Everything is just as it is the way remembered. It becomes us waiting for that bus, you can look down and see the burgundy shoes, feel the cold vynyl seat; great when you had your big boots on all winter, now your feet are light and legs are bare and oh that stuff, Sun, Sun, Sun Sun....

I'm glad someone posted Patty's own comments about how she came to write this song. It's one of my favorites from her. I love the sweet story of the little girl going on a trip with her momma holding her hand. And the background of the whole trip is the beautiful anthem she sings to the sun in thankfulness for spring. This song nearly always makes me cry - but then I always say that Patty Griffin could sing about breakfast cereal and make me cry.
