I think it's about about events from the Bible, before and after the death and resurrection of Jesus. 1st line is about Pharisees and philosophies(obvious), 2nd is about Judas Iscariot and him taking the bribe to betray Jesus, 3rd line is about Simon Peter and the 3 times he denied Christ(same as stabbing in the back), the Roman soldiers cast lots for Jesus' clothes, "As the innocent dies the mocking crowd arrive" is about when Jesus died and there was a mocking crowd watching Him before and after that, "Even if I wash my hands of this the facts still exist" Pilate washed his hands because he saw Jesus as innocent and wanted no blood on his hands. the chorus I think is a way to make us think. who are we in this life, are we like the Pharisees, traitors, greedy, selfish? do we love or hate others? do we treat others like we want to be treated? do we shun responsibility or blame others for our own mistakes?

My Opinion
